BUZZNET Exclusive: Cassadee Pope & I See Stars Devin Oliver Talk 'The Hardest Mistakes'

Hey everyone! I wanted to give you guys here at BUZZNET a little inside scoop on the song I sang on with I See Stars called "The Hardest Mistakes". I also got an exclusive blurb from frontman Devin Oliver. Read below and take a listen to the song!

The collaboration with I See Stars came about pretty casually. My old manager works with them and he said they wanted me to guest appear on a song. I listened to it and LOVED it. I loved how different it was from anything I've ever been a part of.

Working with Devin was as easy as pie! I didn't get to work with the band face to face, but we went back and forth through emails and phone calls til everything was set in place. I sent the vocals I recorded and the band took it from there.

The recording process for this was pretty quick actually. I went in, recorded the pre-chorus and chorus straight through. Then I tracked the bridge two times: one track with the original melody and the other with the higher octave. And that was that!

I caught up with I See Stars frontman Devin Oliver about the colloboration! Here is what he had to say:

“We are all very stoked to release our first remix track to the masses and many more will follow. The first remix is 'electric_forest' featuring Cassadee Pope. The remix will be titled 'Hardest Mistakes' and I have been very anxious to release this. I think the remix allows the listeners to really fall in love with some of my personal favorite lyrics my brother and I wrote. Cassadee brings the perfect vibe we needed for this song and it made me fall in love with the song all over again. I think that all of you will too. Thanks for checking it out and we hope to see you all on the Falling In Reverse tour.”
